Ex-Microsoft employees perfect bra shopping

True & Co

By Rosa Golijan

Bra shopping trips tend to be uncomfortable, awkward and occasionally even embarrassing. As soon as a woman figures out her bra size for the first time, she is forced to accept the sad reality: That many clothing makers seem to follow the beat of their own drums and disregard attempts to standardize intimate measurements.

Thankfully two former Microsoft employees found a solution.

(Msnbc.com is a joint venture of Microsoft and NBCUniversal.)

As NY Daily News' Meena Hart Duerson reports, ?Aarthi Ramamurthy and Michelle Lam have created something?they describe as a "proprietary way to fit women online in 2 minutes with no measuring tape."?The whole thing's pretty simple. Folks just have to head to True & Co, the website created by Ramamurthy and Lam, and fill out a two-minute online survey.?There are questions about breast shape, problems with current undergarments, and so on.

At the end of the survey, True & Co offers customized recommendations, based on the survey taker's preferences and problems.?If you like what you see, you can select three of the bras presented and they'll be shipped to you ??along with two "mystery" bras selected by True & Co experts:

These five bras are shipped for free so women can try them on at home and decide what works. Everything on the site is priced at $45, including high-end brands like Calvin Klein and Natori.

Sounds pretty awesome, right? Now if only brick-and-mortar stores would also use a similar survey to supplement traditional (professional) measurements, we'd have every base covered.
